Cassie Gannis, is bound for Marine Core Air Ground Combat Center, for Drive 2 Dare Safety Day

Cassie Gannis, 19, will be taking her TW Graphic NASCAR Whelen All-American Super Late Model #7 racecar and crew to visit with service men and women at 29 Palms Military Base in California for the Drive 2 Dare Safety Event. Gannis will be speaking to over 5000 people on driving safety issues on Saturday, May 14th.
"I am so thrilled and honored to be attending this event at 29 Palms." said Gannis. "My good friend Sergeant Chris Hurja is based there and is currently deployed to Afghanistan. It is the least I can do to give back to people that put their lives on the line every day for us."
Upcoming, Gannis will compete in Super Late Model #7 at Tucson Raceway Park, April 24. She will racing full time at Tucson Raceway Park along with racing at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale California and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Gannis has been racing since she was 10. She started her career in the Quarter Midget Series, where she consistently placed among the top five. She celebrated her 16th birthday by obtaining a NASCAR license to race in the NASCAR Super Late Model Series. Gannis has raced nationwide, most recently at the Tucson Raceway Park (where she is the youngest woman ever to drive on the track and consistently places in the top 5) and in 2009 was a member of the High Point Racing Team at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California.
In addition to racing, Gannis is a regular co-host on the Internet radio program Mid Valley Sports Show (midvalleysports.com). She was a candidate for the 2009 Drive for Diversity Combine in South Boston Virginia and again in 2010 where she was fortunate to make it into the semi finals along with 16 other drivers. As part of the 2010 Drive for Diversity Combine she will be a part of the "Changing Lanes" television series to be aired on BET this summer. She is a graduate of the Lyn St. James Driving Academy; and a guest speaker for teen driving safety issues on behalf of Boys and Girls Clubs of Arizona, CHP Designated Drives Program and AAA of Southern California.
