Kody King teams with Pathfinder Chassis for full ASA Midwest Tour season, Coltman Farms Racing to sponsor

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (Feb. 6, 2024) – The 2024 season will see Kody King tackle one of the most ambitious racing schedules of his career to date.

Along with taking part in the Alive for 5 Series at Dells Raceway Park, King is set to contest the entire ASA Midwest Tour campaign with Pathfinder Chassis. Coltman Farms Racing will be King’s primary sponsor during his rookie campaign, with Cornellier Fireworks acting as an associate sponsor.

King anticipates plenty of challenges going up against several standout Super Late Model competitors in the Midwest, but he believes the Pathfinder Chassis equipment built by industry veterans Joe Wood, Jason Schuler and Lars Johnson will enable him to be competitive each week.

“It’s a little bit nerve-wracking moving up to Super Late Models and competing with some of the best in the business,” King said. “I’ve got a lot of faith in Pathfinder [Chassis] and made instant progress working with them last year. Despite the competition jump, I’m confident we can do really well.”

King is no stranger to going up against high-level talent, as he previously raced with the zMAX CARS Pro Late Model Tour with Lee Faulk Racing during their inaugural year in 2022.

A year of growth and maturity for King in Pro Late Models saw him nab two Top 5s and a fifth place points finish. Being around several other talented drivers in the CARS PLM Tour provided King valuable insight on how to find consistency against tough competition.

Building a connection with Wood and Schuler after his family bought two of their cars in 2023 only bolstered King’s confidence. Wood is serving as King’s crew chief this year and brings years of experience with him, while Schuler’s resume includes 52 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts between 2000-04.

While King stressed how important leaning on Wood and Schuler has been for improving his race craft, he has never been more comfortable inside a car since he started using the Pathfinder Chassis and looks to translate that speed into success on the ASA Midwest Tour.

“The car being better has helped me improve a lot on my own,” King said. “Obviously, everyone at Pathfinder Chassis has given me great advice since they’ve raced these tracks up here longer than I’ve been alive. These guys have given me a lot of direct advice and always provide a consistent car.”

King is facing plenty of unknowns heading into the upcoming ASA Midwest Tour campaign, but he feels comfortable having a loyal partner accompany him on the journey like Coltman Farms Racing.

At the start of the 2023 season, Coltman Farms Racing came aboard King’s program to assist him with his racing endeavors. King has built a close relationship with Coltman Farms Racing owner Brett Coltman over the past year, which is why he hopes to carry his name to victory lane on several occasions this year.

“Coltman Farms Racing has done so much for us,” King said. “It’s going to be great to run their scheme on our car this year for the ASA Midwest Tour and everywhere else. We get to put Autism Awareness and Special Needs School of Gwinett on our quarter panels, which means a ton to us and we wouldn’t be able to do it without Brett.”

Even though King is determined to showcase his talent on a national level, he is also keeping expectations in check with the plethora of talented ASA Midwest Tour competitors.

With a strong support system that includes Pathfinder Chassis and Advanced Engine Concepts along with his sponsors Coltman Farms Racing and Cornellier Fireworks, King is optimistic his first ASA Midwest Tour season will be a solid one. Rookie of the Year is a feasible goal for King, but he is more focused on logging laps and building trust with the established driver roster.

“I want to have consistent runs,” King said. “If we have a seventh place car, there’s no reason to throw away those points, so I’ll have to keep myself at bay. I want to be around this industry for a long time, so having the respect of those veteran drivers is huge. Hopefully I can have their respect and compete with them too.”

King’s first race in the ASA Midwest Tour is set to take place on Apr. 21 when the series heads to Slinger Super Speedway for the Miracle on the High Banks.

Kody King would like to thank his family, Pathfinder Chassis, MPM Marketing, Advanced Engine Concepts, Coltman Farms Racing and Cornellier Fireworks for all their support.
