Delaney Gray named Allison Legacy Series Rookie of the Year
LA GRANGE, N.C. – Officials from the Allison Legacy Series have announced Delaney Gray as the series’ 2025 Rookie of the Year.
The 13-year-old from La Grange, North Carolina, was impressive throughout her rookie campaign with the series. She scored wins at Carteret County Speedway and Florence Motor Speedway and was named Rookie of the Race in 10 out of 13 events this year.
“I absolutely had absolutely no idea I would be so successful so soon,” said Gray. “Of course, it took a couple races to figure out the car and find the limits and sweet spots but once we figured it out, we were very successful.
“This Rookie of the Year Award means so much to me. It’s just so rewarding to know that all the hard work through the season paid off.”
Gray’s successful rookie campaign in the Allison Legacy Series served as a strong follow-up to the 2024 season, when Gray captured INEX North Carolina Bandolero Bandit championship on the strength of 21 victories.
The Allison Legacy Series is the brainchild of Kenny, Ronald and Donald Allison, the sons of NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Donnie Allison. Together, they created the Allison Legacy car and launched the Allison Legacy Series in 1997.
Several notable drivers have raced with the Allison Legacy Series through the years, including 2011 Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, 2011 Southern 500 winner Regan Smith and multi-time NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race winner John Hunter Nemechek.
“In the 30-year history of the Allison Legacy Series, I have had the opportunity to watch and also help aspiring young individuals progress by competing here,” said Donnie Allison, a 10-time NASCAR Cup Series winner and 2024 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee. “In my opinion, Delaney Gray, at 13 years old, has the most talent I’ve seen in a long time. She has tremendous ability that you don’t see very often to not only drive a race car, but also to communicate with her crew to help her adjust the car to give her the feel she is looking for.
“Many young competitors like Delaney have chosen the Allison Legacy Series as a steppingstone as they are trying to progress in their racing careers. Quite a few of these young drivers have been successful and made it to the top level of racing. As Delaney continues to follow her path in racing, it is possible that you will see her competing in NASCAR’s top levels.”
